Martin James Gabriel

Martin Gabriel is a partner in the Corporate Department. Martin's wide-ranging corporate and commercial practice includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, joint ventures, outsourcing (particularly BPO) and reorganisations with particular focus on the financial institutions and communications, media and technology sectors.
He acts for a number of major international financial institutions, corporates and sponsors including Standard Chartered Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Huawei, ING, News Corporation, Fortis/Ageas, Barclays, Capital International, Societe Generale, BNP Paribas, Bank of New York Mellon and BSkyB.
Martin's recent experience includes advising on the sale of ING's Korean life insurance business to MBK for $1.7 billion, on the proposed $7.3 billion acquisition of RBS Aviation Capital, ICBC on the acquisition of Tekstilbank, RSA on the sale of its Asian insurance businesses, Scotiabank on the acquisition of a stake in the Bank of Xi'an, Standard Chartered on the acquisitions of Cazenove Asia, Korea First Bank and Barclays African custody business, BNP Paribas on the sale of Artemis (its UK fund management business) to AMG, BTMU on its £3.9 billion acquisition of RBS' global project finance business; Barclays on the acquisition of Walbrook and the sale of its leasing business to CIT, Capital International on the merger between Unimilk and Danone and BSkyB on its takeover offer for Easynet.
Martin has lectured internally and to clients on a wide range of corporate and commercial topics. He has previously worked in both the Amsterdam and London offices.
